In 2020, Bloomberg New Energy Finance reported that solar and wind had become the cheapest sources of new generation for two-thirds of the global population, and in 2021 that new solar was cheaper than running existing coal and gas plants in major markets.
This talk will review the current status of global solar power generation, explain how silicon photovoltaic panels are made, how they work and discuss some likely future developments in the technology and its applications.
